Partial Planning

Maybe full-blown Wedding Planning services feels like overkill —but you do feel that some support with specific projects like budget management, design support, or finding the right caterer for your foodie family sounds like everything you need right now. Consider our Partial Planning Package for something that’s Not too Big, Not too Small, but Juuuuust Right.

The Good Stuff: What’s included?

Included in the Partial Planning package is all the services of the Coordination Package + 10hrs of planning support; you control how the 10hrs of support are distributed  (such as 6hrs of Zoom Meetings and 3hrs of administrative research, vendor management, budget management etc.) so you’re always steering the ship.

The most common use of planning support is budget management, design and decor support, and venue research.

One size does NOT fit all

Every couple and every wedding is different and planning support should reflect that.

Does 10hrs feel like too much? Let’s start off with just 5 hours of partial planning!

Need a top up? You can add as many additional hours as needed for $75/hr.

Most commonly, the starting budget for a Full Sized Wedding (50+ guests) Partial Plan is $30,000CAD.

Is Full Planning worth it?

Couples who are not working with a Planner will spend between 200 to 300 hours planning their wedding. Let us show you how we can cut that in half!

As professional Planners, we have tons of shortcuts up our sleeves from reliable vendor contacts, tried & true venues, intimate knowledge of rental & decor catalogues, hours spent evaluating contracts, extensive checklist & timeline templates, and hands-on experience with event logistics, guest management, catering & bar licensing, and way the heck more.

Let us share with you all of our cost-saving strategies, from multi-purposing decor & flowers, to minimizing delivery fees. Allow us to pass along discounts that are only offered to Wedding Planners, and watch as our guidance nearly pays for our services altogether!

Who Hires a Wedding Planner?

Most of our Planning clients are working professionals who value their time and recognize that delegation is the secret to life.

Typically, Wedding Planning represents 10-15% of the overall wedding budget, depending on at what stage in the planning process the Planner is hired.

Most commonly, the starting budget for a Full Sized Wedding (50+ guests) is $45,000CAD.

Multi Day Retreat

Thistle & Thorne is all about doing things a little bit differently; breaking conventional thinking about what a wedding is supposed to be in order to offer something that is truly, experientially, #UnabashedlyYou.

A wedding doesn’t have to be an all-day physical & emotional marathon. The celebration doesn’t have to fly by like the whirlwind experience we have all been warned about, and guests don’t have to compete for your attention as you make brief appearances at your own wedding.

One of our absolute favourite ways to break protocol when planning a wedding is to tear down the traditional, exhausting itinerary of a wedding to its studs… and start completely over. Enter Retreat Weddings.

The Good Stuff: What’s Included?

Planning a Retreat Wedding is like planning 3 weddings in 1. The services sure look the same, but we’ve expanded the scope to ensure you and your guests are looked after from check-in to check-out.

Who Plans a Retreat Wedding?

Who did we design our Retreat Weddings for?

  1. Couples who value Connection & Community – bring all of your favourite humans together in one place and allow them to connect with one another without the time pressure of a one day event.
  2. Couples who value their Boundaries – oftentimes the idea of a wedding can be mentally and emotionally taxing. Retreat Weddings can shift the focus of the day to a collective experience, allowing you to the time to recharge as you need it.
  3. Couples who value the Experience – With a decompressed timeline, there’s more room for group games & activities like guided yoga classes, communal art projects, or designated guest free time with suggestions on how to enjoy the area – Retreat Weddings are memorable in a whole new way.
  4. Couples who can put their Money where their Mouth is –  Regardless of the guest count, multiple meals and extended labour hours change how we prioritize the overall wedding budget. For a stress-free experience, it’s vital for couples to understand their financial investment before committing to a Retreat Wedding. Luckily, by hiring a Retreat Wedding specialist we can ensure that the money you do spend, is spent wisely and with the biggest impact.

Adventure Elopements

Got an adventurous streak? Looking for an epic backdrop? Hoping to trade in the crowds for a more memorable and intimate wedding?

Allow us to plan an adventure that suits you perfectly, whether exploring the PNW and beyond by helicopter, seaplane, 4×4 or some other form of transport, setting sail to private beaches, hiking your favourite trail, or camping overnight so you can watch the sunrise. An adventure elopement may have a small guest list, but it’s big on the WOW factor!

We’ve spent years building relationships with tourism & aviation companies across the province, we know hundreds of epic destinations, and though we’ve done it dozens of times, we never get sick of adventuring with our couples!

Adventures to Choose From

Helicopter Elopements – we recommend a minimum of 60min on location, with most flights ranging from 15-30min (one-way). 50+ recommended locations ranging from jagged mountain peaks, glaciers, alpine meadows and dramatic water features.

Seaplane Elopements – with more room to explore, we recommend a minimum of 2hrs on location, with most flights ranging from 30-45min (one way). Flying out of Coal Harbour in Vancouver, seaplanes are an epic way to find absolute isolation to the North, the white sandy beaches of Vancouver’s many islands, huge waterfalls, and peaceful glacier-fed lakes.

Hot Air Balloons – yes you read that right. We’ve captured some truly magical moments departing from our launch location in Kelowna. We recommend a 4hr excursion, allowing for plenty of photography in front of (and inside!) the balloon, time to fly over the vineyards + lake of the the Okanagan, and share some treats in the air.

Adventures without the Fear of Flying – from dog sledding, horseback riding, 4x4ing in jeeps to epic look-outs or overnight camping under the night sky, we truly are happy to adventure with you wherever and however the mood strikes!

OR Invent Your Own Adventure! – we’ll build it, you just need to come.
